Imagine two days where people with different sets of skills get together to connect, dream, and launch products and businesses. Add some successful local business people to provide volunteer mentoring, and you’ve got a Startup Weekend!
Startup Weekends are 54-hour events where developers, designers, marketers, product managers, and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and launch startups. Roughly 1/3 of startups from the weekend are still going strong after three months, and the learning, networking, and development that occur are priceless.
Entrepreneurs are the sparks that get the economy going. Their motivation, hard work, and ideas create jobs in our communities, and Startup Weekends are a great place for them to get a foothold.
Past events in Bozeman, Missoula, Kalispell, and the most recent one in Butte have already created local startups that are creating opportunities for Montanans.
If you’ve never been to a Startup Weekend, here is your chance! I encourage you to attend, or participate in, a Startup Weekend in Montana this year. Develop your own entrepreneurial skills, or encourage your neighbor! Here are the events planned in Montana so far.
Startup Weekend Bozeman will be April 17-19 at Jake Jabs College of Business, MSU Bozeman
Startup Weekend Great Falls will be May 15-17 at the University of Great Falls
