People want to believe better is possible. Yet in most of the communities I visit around the state, many of the young people had to move away to find gainful employment. In Helena, 90% of the hands went up when I asked if anyone has a child living outside the state (this was an audience of about 300). In Great Falls it was about 70%. Other communities were similar. One of our most precious exports appears to be our kids.
Our kids have dreams. They should not have to choose between Montana or a promising career that pays a decent wage, yet that is a decision many face today.
I hope to change that by helping to create more high-paying jobs in Montana. Like most of us, I want my kids to be able to live and work here, and to thrive doing so. That is what Better Montana Jobs is all about.
